It is festival season and that means that in the next month there is so many great comedy festivals to look forward to! This month we are looking at some of the great shows that you can see at the Edinburgh Fringe. So take note because we are going to give you all the information you need for just a handful of some of the great shows happening this year!

Hello! Tell us all about your show!

NOTED is a minimalist, multimedia experience that transforms everyday objects, simple gestures, and over 400 hand-drawn illustrations (which are strapped to the performers) into an ever-evolving visual narrative. This is done by combining animation, live video, music, and dance, all while peeling through layer after layer of drawings, to create a live-action cartoon that challenges expectations with every twist and turn. Our signature style is whimsical, inventive, and at times mischievous and this surprise party of a show will leave you with a smile on your face and a glow in your heart.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

Aside from our NYC pals Xhloe and Natasha, Recent Cutbacks, and the rest of the Dutch Kills fam, we are particularly interested in seeing Right Before I Go by Stan Zimmerman (the man that brought you Golden AND Gilmore Girls), Afronauts (we LOVE outer space), and any other shows that catch our eye, especially international ones.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

This is our first time! The most common nuggets of advice has been to “pace yourselves!” We’ll be here the whole month, so we want to make sure our health and energy is at the tippity top so we can perform at our best and see and meet all the shows and artists we can! We’ve done other smaller festivals in the states and Canada, so our advice for traveling with a show is to make a list and be prepared to leave some things behind, always be ready to adapt with what you already have or can easily source. Sometimes the magic happens when you’re forced to work with limitations you’re not used to. Don’t panic!

If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?

Meeting a bunch of world-wide weirdos like us! Obviously we are beyond chuffed to share our work (some of which dates back 18 years) with the sea of Fringe goers, but we are so excited to mingle with the people crafting their own work in their back yards and taking their own path to where we all meet; in this magical land that’s FULL of castles. 

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

Our days are going to start bright and early for a 10:15am curtain, so, coffee, a mad dash to get ready and take out places, bring a party to the people from 10:15 to 11:15, and then The Fringe is our oyster! We plan to see loads of shows, meet the people making them, and get our steps in exploring Edinburgh (and maybe have a pint or two along the way).

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

Katie is ready to destroy a plate of fish and chips and Pete LOVES a shortbread, so please dm us @thebkpk with your suggestions! We’re new to the Fringe and have never visited Scotland, please point us in the right direction. 

Best thing about performing at the fringe? 

We don’t know yet! But we’re so excited to find out!

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?

We only have so much room in our luggage, (the whole show has to fit in there), so unfortunately Bradley the Pomeranian cannot attend (he’s got plans anyway), so a photo of him will have to do.

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

Do a good enough show that people buy your beers for you? Just kidding. We plan on grocery shopping instead of having takeaway or going for fish and chips every day.
