Hello! Tell us all about your show!

A double-fisted one-hander, certain to confound and delight. An epic misadventure set to song; a narrative thimblerig illuminating the crafty corners of a clever songwriter’s brain; the inner-workings of a Rube Goldberg thinking machine.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the Fringe?

Even if I never leave the Gilded Balloon, I will have gorged on a creative diet of all-you-can-eat see food.

Have you done the Fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

My first Fringe was like a virgin in heat at a debutante ball, Richard Thompson and I shared a bill. My second experience was even more glamorous — the actual Edinburgh Festival — as a member of The Mark Morris Dance Company. I can recall at least two more since those heady days, it’s all become something of a blur. I’d say embrace the sensory overload, enjoy the natural high, and keep hydrated.

If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?

Looking forward to bonding with the crew at the Gilded Balloon, gladhanding after the gig, with a final lap around the Spiegeltent before retiring for the evening. I’m a teetotaller, so no hangovers need apply. Rinse. Repeat. I adore the routine, but yeah, not my first rodeo.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

I have zero nights off, so my focus will be on getting sufficient rest, perhaps enough time for personal hygiene, a cup of coffee and a protein shake to start the day, slap a face on, kit up, a quick bike hike for a hearty bowl of mussels and broth and then a short jaunt to the Gilded Balloon for sound check and vocal warm ups.

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

Mussel Inn, 61- 65 Rose Street is my favourite spot, hands down. It isn’t even a contest. I eat just one meal a day, and so this will be it, every evening in Edinburgh. https://www.mussel-inn.com/

Best thing about performing at the Fringe?

A creative workhorse is one of the best things to be in this life. No other life I’d rather live.

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?

A Ninja™ blender and a two-week supply of Legion™ strawberry protein powder.

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

A Ninja™ blender and a two-week supply of Legion™ strawberry protein powder.

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

Social media is an authoritarian swamp. Smash the screen. Recover a sense of wonder. Boredom is better than stupor. Leave me alone! https://linktr.ee/michelleshocked

And finally, in three words – Why should people come and see the show.

Lofting. Gilded. Balloons.
