Hello! Tell us all about your show!
Our show is about a small Appalachian town being ravaged by allegedly fake Bigfoot sightings. It’s a bit absurdist, it’s a bit metatheatrical, there’s a giant puppet. It’s about conspiracy, misdirection, and poverty in America.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
There’s loads we’re excited to check out at Fringe this year. “Pajama Talks” at Surgeons Hall is exciting, we saw a version of it in NYC. “Hole!” by American Sing Song is a great group and we really want to be able to catch it at Fringe.
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
This will be our 5th time at fringe! Our advice would be to focus on making fewer strong connections rather than many weak ones. Whether that flyering or industry connections, taking the time to get to know people will pay off more than trying to shove as many people as possible into your show.
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
A day at Fringe usually starts with trying our best to sleep in. Our shows are super physical so strategic rest is what the day is all about. Breakfast is usually soon after and then we meet as a team to go over notes about yesterday’s show. We will run some notes or make sure we’re ready for the show before heading out for the day. Whether it’s flyering, seeing some shows, or meeting up with friends or industry, we’re usually out and about until it’s about time to start warming up for show time!
Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?
We love Piggs for a celebratory meal with the team but that’s usually a once-a-Fringe trip. We also hit up Palmyra Pizza on Nicolson St for Shwarma at least 2 times a week!
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
Connecting with our audiences after each show is the absolute best thing about performing at Fringe. We’ve been lucky enough to have repeated audience members year after year who feel so strongly about our shows and it’s so cool to get to connect with them after the stress of the day’s show is over.
Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?
We stock up on American gum when we travel abroad. UK chewing gum is just fine but some sort of familiar comfort we’ve found is maybe just the thing to keep us from going insane in Fringe craziness.
What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?
Get advice on where to eat from locals! There’s no pretending like the city isn’t overrun with tourists including ourselves, but our local friends keep us in the know with where to eat. It usually is better for saving money and gives us a chance to support local businesses.
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
You can find us @xhloeandnatasha on every platform!
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
Fast, physical, puppetry
