Tell Us about:

Your latest single you have released:

It’s called, “Lady Bathory” and it deals with confusion and the uneasiness in the world right now. I was influenced a bit by the story of Elizabeth Bathory from the 1500s. When I read about what she had done, I was sort of baffled, intrigued and blown away all at once. I used a lot of surreal imagery in this song and it’s a bit heavier than my previous releases.

Your favourite lyric in this song:

“A silhouette of the morning worship, a portrait of the Queen / I take a dip like Lady Bathory, my life is so serene.”

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

That is a tough one. I would say at this moment I would say, ‘Write it in Blood’ from my 2023 album Obscura

Your favourite song to play live:

“White Spade Symphony,” from Spring 2023.

The song that was the longest to write and why?

There is a song that I am almost done writing now for the next album called, “I Don’t Wanna See You Cry”. I re-wrote the lyrics about four times. Just want to make sure I get it right!

One of your previous tracks you would recommend for first time listeners of your music and why?

I always felt that “Black Angel” is a good place to start with my music. To me, it has this universal feel that feels digestible.

Dream collaboration:

Frank Zappa.

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

A mix of nerves and excitement. I am always second guessing myself on stage about certain songs. Once I have performed one or two songs, I usually feel relaxed and get into the zone.

Essential items you always take with you to a live gig?

My guitar, my amp and a little kit my wife made for me with a face cloth, deodorant and breath mints. All essential things!

Describe your fans in three words:

Loyal, fun, excited!

A song released in the last few years by an artist or band you wish you had written:

I liked “Archbishop Harold Holmes” by Jack White.

What we can look forward to from you this year:

On top of the two singles, January’s “Hollow Choir” and the recent “Lady Bathory,” I will be dropping a new album at the end of the summer or early fall.
