Welcome to a brand new feature! Every other week we are going to be looking at a different episode of a television show and delve into the world of that show! There is so many great television programmes out there that some of the are forgotten about or they even just get left behind. So let’s celebrate the world of television.

Show: One Foot In The Grave
Episode: Hearts Of Darkness
Original Release Date: 1993

It is very weird to watch One Foot In The Grave as an adult after watching it for many years when I was a kid. When you are a kid under ten, you laugh at the catchphrase ‘I don’t believe it’ and then find him moany the whole time.
As you watch it as an adult, you start to sympathise with Victor Meldrew and sort of realise a lot of the issues he comes across were not actually caused by him even though he gets the blame. There was many episodes I could of discussed but I came across this one the other day for the first time in ages and felt it needed to be spoken about.
The first part of the episode is typical One Foot In The Grave Humour – silly little jokes building up to them being stuck on a rowing boat and getting lost. The great thing about it is there is so much unexpected humour along the way. I don’t want to spoil it but the van part is fantastic.
Just like all One Foot In The Grave episodes, there is a darker element to it. Dr Meldrew stumbles across a house initially thinking it is normal when he realises elderly people are being abused by the care home workers. So he helps them to get their revenge.
It is dark, unexpected and is an episode that defines why this show is so good.
