There are so many songs that are out there everywhere then all of a sudden they disappear and you only hear from them very rarely that they can create a sense of nostalgic for you, the listener. So roll up and welcome to Forgotten Songs where we celebrate these forgotten wonders.
Sunshine – Gareth Gates
Today, we are heading back to the early naughties to look at a single that a Pop Idol star released that you may have forgotten about.
On the 8th of September 2003, Gareth Gates released the single Sunshine. It was the second single to be released from his second album Go Your Own Way. It was written by Dan Mar-Molinaro and Stephen Keith and produced by Mike Peden. It was released under the record labels of BMG and 19.
It has a weird story based around this song. Apparently, you could vote for the promotional video to enter the MTV2 charts. However, it was solely a rock music channel, so there was no reason for it to be on there. It only gained 10 votes.
In the United Kingdom, it went into the charts at position number three, and the highest it charted internationally was Belgium, at number five.
