Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Peel

Tell Us about:

Your latest single you have released:

We have a single that came out in March called “Heaven from Here”. It’s an uptempo song, kind of 90/00’s retro rock, almost “grungy”, it’s guitar driven, with distinct drum and bass fundamentals, vocals up close up with a minimum use of “FX sweeteners”. We deliberately kept some flaws and errors that we felt gave the song a human and live feel. It felt right for this song. Lyrically it’s about standing in the middle of doubt, distance, or emotional weight and recognizing that meaning can still exist there. That “heaven” isn’t a place you run to — it’s the perspective you arrive at.

Your favourite lyric in this song:

“I always sleep with one eye openI’m alive, but my heart’s brokenWhat’s on my mind is still unspoken……and I got nowhere to go”

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

I must categorically say that a question like that is impossible to answer. There are songs that sticks out and that I’m very proud of; “Natalie Somewhere”, “Breathe”, “Loaded”, Same Sky”, “Modern Age Family Business”, “Love Phobia”, and our upcoming single “Heaven from Here”…as I said: this is an impossible question to answer. Sorry.

Your favourite song to play live:

“Like Sand” from “Ghosts and Shadows”(2017) is among the favourites, “Comes Down…OK” is another favourite.

The song that was the longest to write and why?

“Natalie Somewhere”, I think…It’s a 15 year gap between the verses and the choruses. That is, fortunately enough, not the standard timewise when it comes to finishing a song.

One of your previous tracks you would recommend for first time listeners of your music and why?

That’s not as simple as it might seem because our catalogue is extremely diverse stretching from hard riff driven rock, classic rock, alt.rock, indie pop, electronica inspired stuff, US radio friendly, “beatlesque” pop…but the before mentioned “Natalie Somewhere” is perhaps a start. But if I can be so bold; I would suggest people to check out our artist page on Spotify.

Dream collaboration:

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

Anticipation and nervousness.

The track that is most fun to play live:

“Love Phobia” and “Crack”

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

Toothbrush, books, nice attitude and our best behaviour

Describe your fans in three words:

Loyal, intelligent and freethinkers.

A song released in the last few years by an artist or band you wish you had written:

“Between the Halo and the Horn” by A-ha. A stunningly beautiful song from an album, “True North”, that is filled with melancholic pop gems.

What we can look forward to from your band this year:

Keep on recording songs hopefully featured on what will be a new album next year. It would be fun to do gigs, but as of now nothing is planned.
