Tell us about:
Your latest single you have released:
Tatu: We just released a new single, The Great Unknown (2026). Originally found on our debut album, this version showcases our new singer Aino Vuorenmaa’s talents. With it, you can find a music video, go check it out!
Your favourite lyric in this song:
Aino: I think the softer part of the song really underlines beautifully the statement that our time here is limited and we should just seek connection and embrace this unique experience: “Wondering forever who we are, what it is to be / just breathe, marvel this view, celebrate mortality.
Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:
Tatu: For me, one hidden gem on our debut album is the last track, “Garden of the Fallen”. The composition really captures the emotion that the lyrics bring to the song.
Your favourite song to play live:
Aino: I have to say Wayfarer. For me, it’s full of energy and depth. It’s the longest song (8:32) on the debut album As the World Tree Fell, and it feels like its own miniature world where you can be absorbed in. Wayfarer is formed from all these different parts, so as a vocalist, I can play a lot with tone and volume.
The song that was the longest to write and why:
Tatu: I’ll mention the last song on the album again, “Garden of the Fallen.” The composition itself is very old, but I wrote the lyrics for the song last for the album, so several years passed in between. The song had to mature in my head first before I could write the lyrics.
One of your previous tracks you would recommend for first time listeners of your music and why?
Tatu: I think the album opener, “Watching the World Tree Fall,” or the longest song on the album, “Wayfarer,” describes our band’s sound well.
Dream collaboration:
Tatu: Pain of Salvation, Cellar Darling… There are many, but let’s just say those.#Describe
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show’
Aino: It’s a beautiful combination of overflowing energy, calm clarity, and being totally present in the moment. And the most important: the feeling of my bandmates that I get to share the stage with.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
Aino: Well, there is the technical stuff, clothes, etc., but I must say my current knitting project is very essential. I live in Lapland, so gigs require lots of traveling, and on top of that, there is usually some sort of waiting happening, so with my knitting, I’m always entertained.
Describe your fans in three words:
Tatu: Introspective, devoted Humanimals
A song released in the last few years by an artist or band you wish you had written:
Tatu: First comes to mind Spiritbox’s “Too Close/Too Late”. Gorgeous song.
What we can look forward to from your band this year:
Tatu: Hopefully, we’ll be able to release a single, a cover song, but it’s still a bit uncertain for reasons beyond our control. And more gigs in the autumn!
