For The Love Of Film – Day 25 – Us

Everyday this month we are looking at different songs from different films that I love and feel that they deserve their time to shine in the limelight. They are all bits of music that I love and I wanted to talk about them more in depth so that maybe you the reader can have similar experiences and understand why I like them.

Song From Soundtrack: Us – Regina Spektor
Film: (500) Days Of Summer
Year: 2009

Sometimes you get an Independent film come along where the soundtrack is just as important as the film – that is exactly the case with (500) Days of Summer. The soundtrack plays a very important role and is a fantastic standalone as well.

This song is part of the opening title sequence for the film and it is able to create a whole world for the audience. It also sets up the illusion that we are heading into the world of a rom com when it is actually technically the opposite.

There is a wonderful piano melody thought which makes it joyous to listen to and it also creates an optimistic twang to the song it really good song to start a film with.
