Everyday this month we are looking at different songs from different films that I love and feel that they deserve their time to shine in the limelight. They are all bits of music that I love and I wanted to talk about them more in depth so that maybe you the reader can have similar experiences and understand why I like them.
Song From Soundtrack: Opening Titles – Alexandre Desplat
Film: Monuments Men
Year: 2014
It is weird to have a connection with a song from a soundtrack of a film that you have never seen but here we are. One of my first jobs in media was creating showreels for Hollywood executives to show them how well their films did across the world and the media coverage it has received. One of the films I did this for was Monuments Men.
This song was the track I chose to edit to. When you edit to a song it can go one of two ways – you will either love it or hate it afterwards. I ended up loving this song, I really liked the use of brass instruments in it. Due to the fact this film is based around the war, it has a real patriotic and proud feeling to it.
Throughout it feels like this song has two to three parts – the intro, the unusual middle part and the bold bright outro. That is why I enjoy it. It has a real uplifting sound to it that gets stuck in your head in a positive way.
