It has come to the point of the year when we celebrate all things music and take a look back on the year and what songs that it has provided us with. Today we have a look at the last ten of some of the best songs released this year.
21) Mirtazapine – Hayley Williams
In July Paramore front woman premiered her solo song at Nashville radio station WNXP called Mirtazapine. It is named after the antidepressant drug, it was also the lead track off of her newest solo album venture. She also announced a solo tour as well.
22) Relationships – Haim
In March of this year Haim returned with the single Relationships. Some critics declared it was a sound for the summer as it was bold and breezy in it’s musicality. It was released under the record label of Columbia and the music video featured Drew Starkey.
23) Midnight Sun – Zara Larsson
In June, the Swedish singer Zara Larsson released the single Midnight Sun which was the lead track from the fifth studio album. It went to number 4 in the Swedish charts and was even nominated for a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording.
24) Azizam – Ed Sheeran
In April 2025, Ed Sheeran returned to the limelight with the single Azizam, which charted at number 1 in many countries and even became certified Gold in the United States Of America and certified Platinum in the United Kingdom. There was also also a Persian version of the song starring Iranian singer Googoosh.
25) Everybody Scream – Florence and the Machine
This year saw the return of Florence and the Machine at the end of October with the track Everybody Scream, it was off of their brand new album which was their first for three years. The lyrics delve into many themes including mystery, madness and witchcraft to name a few.
26) Hippie Sunshine – Kasabian
There is one band that returned this year with a brand new sound that was interesting and good fun. This song was in preparation of their ninth LP which is set to be released soon. Their new album is set to be released in 2026 before they perform their live shows that they have planned .
27) Catch These Fists – Wet Leg
In April 2025, the Indie group Wet Leg released this really catchy track Catch These Fists, which was the lead single off of the album Moisturizer. The song received high praise from the critics and was received very well at events such as Glastonbury this year.
28) Zombie – Yungblud
It was a big year for Yungblud, releasing a new album, performing at Ozzy Osbournes concert, sell out tours and even receiving his first three Grammy nominations. One of those to receive a nomination was Zombie for Best Rock Song. The music video features actress Florence Pugh and is a love letter to the nurses of the NHS.
29) Rubber Band Man – Mumford & Sons feat Hozier
It is the collaboration but no-one really saw coming but end up really liking. In October Mumford & Sons and Hozier teamed up to release the single Rubber Band Man. It was produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner. If you have not listened to it then I highly recommend that you do.
30) Lemonade – Louis Tomlinson
In September Louis Tomlinson returned with the really punchy song Lemonade which is set to be the lead single from his next album How Did I Get Here which is set to be released next year. It went into the top 10 in many countries including Argentina (8), Dominican Republic (6), Paraguay (8) and Uruguay (4) to name a few.
