I travel to London a lot for work and when you have to go through airports a lot you learn lots of hacks to make your life easier and cheaper. Airports can be a place to waste so much money so you learn ways so that you can save a bit and learn to adapt. So here is an article to kick off your year to make it easier or cheaper for your travels this year.
Make trains cheaper
I have discovered only recently that if you fly into Luton Airport you can make your train to London super cheap. EMR is the way to do it. If you book on the fly it will be £2 cheaper then the Thameslink that is on the same route. HOWEVER – if you know the train you are going to take the day before then book it a day earlier. I got a train all that way to London for only £4. That means I ended up saving £14 as they are usually around £18.
Busses The Cheap way
If you fly to Edinburgh then you may think that the tram is the cheapest way to get to the town centre, I would say it was the quickest but it is not the one to save money with. If you are returning from Edinburgh to the Airport I have a hack for you to save money. Get a tram to Edinburgh Gateway – that means you get most of the journey out the way in reasonable time. Then walk through the shopping centre at Gateway to the other side and there is a bus to the airport there that is only around £2 – that means you end up saving a few pounds which means it really is worth it.
Boots
I have said it once, I will say it again – if you are in the departure lounge head to Boots for water and even snacks. The water is so much cheaper other places it is £3.99 and it is £1.80 and even the chocolate bar and snacks are so much cheaper as well. You will save yourself a fortune.
