The one thing I love about music is that everyone has their own story to tell – the musician, the lyrics, the way the fans decipher them and also the way a song can also create a memory or a meaning to someone.
Since Five have reunited this year and are doing a tour all of this moth, I thought it would be fun to have a break from Movie Memories and 100 Weeks Of Discovery (which will both return in 2026) and return to the feature Music Memories to look at Five every week of November.
I was quite young when Five were around but I loved them. Their first album was my first ever CD (had tapes before) and I still have it to this day! Lots of their songs have memories for me attached so thought would write about them every Tuesday!
Track: Got The Feelin’
Artist: Five
Original Release Date: 1998
From a very young age, Got The Feelin’ was one of my favourite songs of Five. As I have said many times on this website, I love music videos and this was a track that had a really fun one.
I spent aggeess learning the dance routine from the song as I loved it so much. Back in the nineties, there was no internet as such so you would have to rely on shows such as Top Of The Pops and CD:UK to play the video which meant that you had limited time to see the moves.
I have memories where I would dance it at everything from my room, to school discos, family gatherings, holidays and I would love to teach people the dance when it came on. I got so excited!
Even now, I can remember the dance moves really clearly and always enjoy doing it. It really is such a great track and the perfect one to finish off this month of Five!
