Hello! Tell us about yourself?

I’m Susan, I’m a character comedian and improviser with a huge collection of wigs and a love of surreal, joyful comedy and uplifting interaction!

Tell us all about your show!

My show is a multiple character show, featuring lots of weird and wonderful characters such as a Sindy Doll with low self esteem and a lairy panda from the 90’s! It’s fun, unique and packed full of joyful interaction. I’ve been a character comedian for many years now, and my show explores the challenge of living a creative life, while getting older.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

I’m looking forward to seeing Kieran Hodgson: Voice of America. I saw his work in progress recently and it blew me away. It was funny and thoughtful – the perfect combo! I’m also really looking forward to seeing Smack The Pony who, like me, are at The Gilded Balloon. I’m going to try not to fangirl too much if I bump into them!

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

Yes I’ve done the fringe many times with solo shows, and with Showstopper who I also perform with. My advice would be; go and visit the sea on your day off, buy a raincoat and eat the occasional vegetable.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

Wake up, panic, see a show, do a show, relax and repeat!

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

Mosque Kitchen has delicious food, at a price even us starving artists can afford.

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

The opportunity to do a show every day to really hone it, explore it and make discoveries with the audience.

What is the hardest part about performing at the Fringe?

It is a challenge doing a show almost every day for a month, it requires a big old dose of stamina. Other things that are hard are; the lack of storage in most places, the hills, and the debt.

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?

My friends. Technically I don’t bring them, but they are coming up to visit and that always makes a massive difference.

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

Don’t go! Only joking. Cook at home/make packed lunches as much as possible, take advantage of 2 for 1 days with friends, make good use of your pass if you have one and remember to see stuff on the free fringe too.

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?

A raincoat, earplugs and endless supplies of hope.

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

To feel uplifted!
