Hello! Tell us about yourself?

Hi there! My name’s Kate, and I’m an actor, writer, and clown hailing from New York City. I’m making my Fringe debut this summer, and I’m equally excited and nauseous! Most recently, I had a recurring role on Hulu’s The Other Black Girl and shared the Broadway stage with queer icon Melissa Etheridge. More recently than that, I started binging Lost and getting really into soups.

Tell us all about your show!

Cooking with Kathryn is a chaotic character/clown/theatre show I’ve been cooking up since 2019. After years of work-in-progress nights, weird gigs, and testing bits on unsuspecting audiences, I’ve finally whipped it into a comedy that makes people p*** themselves laughing while also managing to tug at their heartstrings.

The show follows Kathryn, the Southern belle’s answer to Nigella Lawson, who has a heart of gold and more wine in her veins than Jesus at the Last Supper. With her mama recently passed, she is stepping into the spotlight as the self-declared “star” of her family’s long-running community cookin’ show—a legacy passed down through generations of Kathryns before her.

With a casserole in the oven and grief quietly simmering, she’s on a mission to make her mama proud. But as the recipes get weirder and the wine gives way to vodka, memories bubble to the surface, secrets spill, and a new kind of heat starts to rise—maybe even the romantic kind. Cooking with Kathryn is a riotous solo comedy about legacy and the dreams we put on the back burner to keep tradition alive.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

SO many! To name a few: Lachlan Werner WonderTwunk, Amando Houser DeliaDelia, and Emily Wilson Undressed
