Hello! Tell us about yourself?
Hello! We are Ada & Bron. We are a writer/performer duo and also a real life couple. Wow! We love making comedy more than making love! That’s not a sad thing to say, by the way.
Also in the show is Ed. He is our musician and professional third wheel.
Ed: Hello!
He plays piano and is really tall. If you ask nicely, he serenades you in the bedroom. (Ask for Frank Liszt!).
Tell us all about your show!
‘The Origin of Love’ is a comedy about the turmoils of L.O.V.E. A fever dream of weirdo couples and doomed romance. An absurd, larger-than-life character comedy for lovers of the strange, stupid and sexy.
Love Actually meets The League of Gentlemen.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
Lorna Rose Treen is a genius, Joz Norris’s show is total brilliance, Alice Cockayne is magnificent, Joe Kent Walters = astonishing, Lachlan Werner is wonderful. So many. So little time!
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
Bron: This is our debut show. We are so excited!
Ada: We have been to the Fringe before, but working Front of House. We slept in a cupboard and got nits. So my advice would be don’t plait your hair into a stranger’s pony tail and try to sleep in a bed.
Bron: I didn’t get nits.
Ada: Yes you did. We. All. Got. Nits. Everyone at fringe got nits. It was a group thing. Not just me.
Ed: Genuine advice: Be brave, Be strong, Make memories
Bron: Thanks, Ed. That’s really sweet
If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?
Ada: Doing the show a LOT. It’s such a freakfest and I love every moment of it. I can’t wait to strut my stuff in bloomers everyday. Also I’m hoping to get incredibly rich off the show. Do you think that’s achievable?
Ed: Maybe a threesome with Ada & Bron? Am I allowed to say that?
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
Ada: Wake up at 12am. Do some reps. Go on Ghost Tours from 1-4 (Wear sunglasses so no one can see how scared you are). Go and see Lorna Rose Treen’s show at 6:20 scream instead of laugh every time she says a joke. That girl makes me SCREAM!
Bron: Date breakfast with Ada (bagel). Date lunch with Ada (bagel). Hold hands with Ada and look at the castle (maybe eat a bagel). Imagine what it would be like if we were the king and queen of medieval times with a little dancing jester. Then tell Ada a brilliant idea for a sketch. If she puts me down, track Joz Norris on find-my-friend and buy him a bagel to make Ada jealous. (Bagel)
Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?
Ada: I like that place that does the good curry.
Bron: That sounds great I can’t wait to go there!
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
Ada: The audiences are spunky and cool!
Bron: Friends around every corner!
Ada & Bron (screaming in unison): WATCHING SO MANY AMAZING SHOWS.
Ed: Playing da piano!
What is the hardest part about performing at the Fringe?
Ed: When I get a wedgie mid show. Because if I stop playing the piano to sort it out, I know Ada and Bron will shout at me later.
Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?
Bron: My special onion helps me cry on cue.
Ada: And my special carrot helps me see in the dark during blackouts.
Ada & Bron: It’s a very dramatic show.
What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?
Ed:(singing) you’ve gotta pick a pocket or two!
What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?
We have a bucket tonne of props and costumes
Our Top 3:
- Cream Trousers
- Chocolate tart
- Stain remover
You’ll have to come and see what those special objects are for!!
what’s the secret to successful flyering?
Bron: Touch fingers as you hand the flyer over. You will hopefully have an electric moment of connection.
Ada: Also. Lie. Lie. Lie. Ask people what they like, and then pretend your show is about the thing they said they like! From cheddar to poodles, your show can be about literally anything, if it gets bums on seats. You’ll be laughing all the way the bank!
