Hello! Tell us about yourself?
Hello! My name is Eliza, I am a drag artist / comedian / clown / ex christmas elf / future father of your children. I’m really sorry about that last comment, that’s really not like me. A lukewarm fun fact about me is that I like cats and this year i’m going to the Edinburgh Fringe! Wahoo!
Tell us all about your show!
Cinemadrome is about cinemas! More specifically working in a cinema and more broadly working in non creative environments as creative people.
The show tackles how the surreal world of advertising, a humans capacity to waste, cinema going and first gay heartbreak all through Cabbages desperate attempt to entertain themself and an imaginary audience whilst working a never-ending shift.
A lot of my work in genre is multidisciplinary so this show cycles through clown, spoken comedy, character comedy, physical gags, dance, puppetry, parody song – i’m really indecisive so I thought i’d just do them all. It’s really fun, you should come x
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
SO MANY. Lachlan Werner, Soft Play, London Cycling Man, Lorna Rose Treen, Dyke systems LTD, Su Mi This Motherphucker…. I can go on forever. I love magic, I wanna see some magic and clown and puppet shows whilst I’m there if I have time !!!
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
I’ve heard it’s really important to selfcare.
If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?
I am looking forward to watching lots of beautiful things and connecting with artists from all over the world. I am looking forward to getting to a point where I know my show in and out and performing it no longer makes me nervous. I am also looking forward to having a panini from this panini place I really like.
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
I will get up. I will maybe make myself a special drink (that sounded dodgy I just meant maybe like a DIY matcha latte or something). I will maybe get into a half drag half human hybrid that is manageable for my daily flyering.
I will talk to strangers to see if they might enjoy my show, if it sounds like they will I might give them a flyer. I will probably break for lunch, maybe at the panini place unless I have a packed lunch. I must avoid spending all I have on the food stands. After lunch I will probably flyer again and then in an ideal world I will spend maybe an hour doing online “marketing”, more flyering and then I will get into drag and do a sellout show every night.
Afterwards I will simultaneously go out after my show and see lots of silly clown shows late into the night, aswell as get an 8 hour sleep ready to get up at 8 am. Every day I will watch others peoples shows and socialise with friends.
Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?
