Hello! Tell us about yourself?

My name is David Morley, I am the writer of “Elon Musk: Lost In Space” and co-founder  of Perfectly Normal Theatre. I’ve written many radio plays (often with a political bent) and  also co-produced The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy national tour.

Tell us all about your show!

It imagines that Elon Musk is cast adrift in space, where he is tormented by visions and  frustrated by the ship’s computer, which is evolving into something he didn’t expect. It  stars Ben Whitehead as Musk (the voice of Wallace in Wallace & Gromit) and Sarah  Lawrie and is directed by Olivier-nominated John Nicholson.

Writing this show has  meant juggling a mountain of material, and I’m constantly reworking it which keeps  myself and the cast on our toes. There’s something in this play for news junkies, sci-fi fans, movie lovers and especially anyone who wants to laugh at the awful men who think  they run this planet’’

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

I’m looking forward to seeing how the creative community is responding to the second  Trump administration. Dark times need satire.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been  given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

This is the first time that my work has been produced at Edinburgh, so that’s exciting. In  terms of advice, I have been reminded that Edinburgh is incredibly hilly, so never  assume you can run in heels when late for a show!

If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?

I’ve been many times as an audience member and I love the variety and energy of the  festival.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

Get up late, have a good breakfast, see a show, have a good lunch, see a show, drink  some beer, see a show, drink more beer… I can’t remember what happens next.

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

I love that little French bistro on Grassmarket, called Peter Paris.

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

The people.

What is the hardest part about performing at the Fringe?

Staying healthy.

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are  away?

Money. A hat.

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

Beg

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?

A cap, good shoes and a smile.

Look happy.
