Hello! Tell us about yourself?

Hiya, I’m Lizzy and I’m the director and a performer in Murder, She Didn’t Write. I’m a part-time TV producer and maker of quiz shows. And I LOVE a pub quiz. I’ve been performing our show for about 13 years and my alter ego Detective Agatha Crusty is the woman I aspire to become in my older age.

Tell us all about your show!

Murder, She Didn’t Write is an improvised murder mystery that we build from audience suggestions. It’s completely different every time. One member of the audience, chosen at random, picks the victim and the murderer. The rest of the audience have to guess who the killer is before it’s revealed at the end of the show.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

Ooooh so many! Racing Minds, Trygve Wakenshaw, Elf Lyons, Love Hunt

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

DRINK WATER! Bring one of those flasks with you and drink water. Many people end up hungry dehydrated messes at the fringe so make sure you keep a level of safe care that allows you to prevent classic fringe burnout. I’m terrible for this.

Don’t just flyer all the time. Give yourself times that you flyer for your show and then give yourself a break. It’s easy to get obsessed with audience numbers but target the times and places where you think you’ll find an audience who will want to see your show.

If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?

This is my 14th fringe, but I love going, I’m a glutton for punishment. It’s my spiritual home. I will be looking forward to a few cheeky Pie Maker pies, a nice pint at the Brass Monkey, some late night drinks and dancing maybe?

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

14:50 – warm up with my cast mates and put the set up

17:00 – go back to the tiny shared flat and do emails, sleep, watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

21:00 – put on more concealer and head out to a bar

03:00 – get back to the flat and remove all my layers of makeup

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

I’m partial to staring into a bowl of ramen while questioning whether a career in the arts is viable. There is a place on Nicholson Street that does hand cut noodles and I’ve forgotten its name.

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

I like the people you meet. Other people also trying their best and putting themselves out there. I’ve had some incredible chats with other performers at the fringe. I recommend speaking to others, finding out their journey and how often they question their career choices. EVERYONE DOES!

What is the hardest part about performing at the Fringe?

Packing for sun/ blistering heat/ torrential rain/ gale force winds/ snow/ hail/ hot humid rainy sunny freezing days and fitting all of those clothes into one suitcase.

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?

Oh god maybe I should! I always wish I brought a pillow.

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

Any show you know you want to see, book in preview week. Carry tupperware with a lunch in it to save money buying lunch. BUT BEWARE do NOT eat this lunch after 24 hours of leaving it out of the fringe you will s*** yourself.

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?

Umbrella, foldable Tupperware, sun glasses

What’s the secret to successful flyering?

Resilience. People will say no. but they don’t hate you. Rejection is inevitable.

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

Our show is @murdershedidnt and I’m @lizzyskippy on the various socials.

And finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

I’ve no pension
