Hello! Tell us about yourself?
My name is Josh and I’m an actor/ comedian from Melbourne Australia. I love slapstick comedy and shark tank and never the two should meet.
Tell us all about your show!
My show Signor Baffo is one man comedy clown show for kids. It’s set in a kitchen where the chef hasn’t shown up to work and so the man who washes the dishes decides to run the kitchen thus chaos ensues.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
The ones that are only on at super inconvenient hours in super inconvenient places. That’s where the real magic happens.
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
I have done the season before a whole month with a show called Disney n Drag. The first lesson was don’t do drag because there’s there’s way too much makeup and the second is hydrate. Then there’s: Eat, sleep, don’t talk to strangers, definitely don’t invest in Bitcoin and finally it’s all about family.
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
Wake up. Immediately go back to sleep. Get up way too late to do that thing I said I would do. Not go to thing. Drink coffee than do show. There’s probably some weeping in there somewhere, but it could be happy weeping or sad weeping, you never know with fringe
Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?
I feel like the late night lifestyle of Fringe means you never get to eat where you want to eat. You can only ever eat of what’s open but it just so happens to be that all the places that are open are the things that I want, nasty nasty food that is in no way going to help me do my show tomorrow.
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
It’s seeing something you’ve made come to life. It’s one thing to rehearse it’s one thing to have ideas in your head, but when you actually get it in front of a crowd and people are laughing, it’s the final part of the creative experience.
What is the hardest part about performing at the Fringe?
It’s saving all of your energy for that 1 hour at Showtime. So even though it feels like you have a whole day to relax, you don’t because you’re just biding your time stressing out.
Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?
If I could bring my espresso machine I would but it won’t fit in my suitcase so instead I’ll bring my switch.
What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?
It’s definitely got to be meal prep and if you meal prep like I do it means buying all the ingredients but never getting around to doing it and so then just having a bunch of wasted ingredients in your fridge. Sorry did you say save money or waste money.
What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?
The necromancy of thay, the eye of agamoto and nose trimmers.
what’s the secret to successful flyering?
Not taking the rejection personally. But also taking a mental snapshot of their face so that you can seek revenge in future.
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
@joshdavidburton
@inttheatreint
@burtonbros
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
Slapstick always funny
