Hello! Tell us about yourself?

I’m a London based comedian and high functioning depressive. I love all sorts of comedy but stand up will always be my first love.

Tell us all about your show!

This show is about me feeling like I’m not a proper grownup because instead of moving out with my boyfriend, I moved him in to live with me and my family. I talk about going on a self help journey, being upset that my younger sister got married before me, and how my family just generally is a bit crazy.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

I’m looking forward to seeing Alison Spittle, Ayoade Bamgboye and Chloe Petts

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

I have done the fringe several times before in several different iterations of wealth. I’ve slept under a desk and shared a room with three other comedians before and I’ve also enjoyed non-desk sleeping situations. My advice would be, drink water, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Try to have a fringe fling if you can but it’s not essential to a successful run. Also if you’re enjoying doing your show, then you are having a successful fringe. Also if you get ill, go to Napiers, they usually hand out free herbal tea.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

Ok so, I wake up way later than I normally would in the other 11 months of the year. I make some scrambled eggs with spinach and other vegetables. It’s good to get all your veg in the morning because you probably won’t have any for the rest of the day. I go for an embarrassingly short run – probably just 2k – I let everyone on instagram know that I did my run and then I probably dilly dally until I have to get ready for my show. Or I try to fit in watching a bunch of shows before I do my own. I do my pre show rituals, I gua sha my face, stretch, do tongue twisters, listen to gangsta rap.

After doing my show I’ll probably meet up with a friend and go on an adventure or be a problematic facilitator of other people’s fringe flings. I’m really interested in creating romantic chaos this summer. Eventually I’ll end up in one of the bars and grab a cheese and ham crepe at 2am before skipping home to do it all over again.

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

I absolutely love Ting Thai Caravan. There have been many a time where a meal form there has nourished my soul

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

Doing your show everyday and people coming to see you specifically. It feels amazing and I’ll always be grateful to my fringe audiences

What is the hardest part about performing at the Fringe?

It is an intense month, you get overstimulated, you don’t quite take care of your health like you would normally. I find it really hard to sleep while I’m there.

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?

Multivitamins. Face gems. My speaker, music is essential.

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

It’s impossible. But you probably will only have two meals a day because of the timings of everything so there’s that. My advice would be try to make as much money as possible by doing loads of spots

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?

A statement jacket so people spot you all over town, a portable charger for all the long days and something for emotional support like drugs or a pet.

what’s the secret to successful flyering?

Disassociate. You can flyer and be in your happy place at the same time.

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

I’m mainly on instagram and tik tok these days. IG is @maryeiththegoldshoes and my tik tok is @marywiththetiktok

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

You will relate
