Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.
CRAB DIP
Today we are looking at a dip that I saw advertised on the television show Carnival Eats at a State Fair in Louisiana. I can’t find the name of the people that were interviewed but I thought it would still be interesting to talk about it as from looking online the dip is incredibly popular thing in Louisiana.
So what is it that we are looking at today? It is called a crab dip and instead of the standard way I usually write this article, today we are going to look at how it is made and not at people’s reviews.
A cream cheese is put into a bowel and mixed with cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, Worcester sauce and seasoned with salt, pepper, cayenne and parsley. It is then topped with garlic, lemon juice and sherry. This is all mixed together to combine. The crab meat that is used is local and it is the sweet claw meat. Half of it is mixed into the sauce.
A bread bowl is prepared then the crab sauce mix is added inside the bowl with the rest of the crab meat. It is then placed in the oven for five minutes to create a warm creamy indulgent dish.
