Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Television Skies

Tell us about:

Your latest single you have released:

Our latest single is “Time of My Life”. it’s about crashing. literally and emotionally. it’s that feeling of being young, reckless, completely aware that you’re spiralling, but still wanting to leave something behind for the people you love. it’s like telling your friends, “hey, I know I’m a mess, but smile for me anyway.” it’s loud, and unfiltered, and probably the most us we’ve ever sounded. it feels like a diary entry and a goodbye note all in one.

Your favourite lyric in this song:

“and i hope you can smile, I hope you’ll forgive me, look back and miss me, cause I’ve had the time of my life.” it’s the mix of heartbreak and gratitude that makes it hit. it’s not about glorifying the “crash”. it’s about owning it, and still hoping you meant something to the people you love. it feels like the last line in a film right before the screen goes black. it always feels cinematic, it’s honest, and it kind of says everything we were trying to say in just one breath.

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

We’ve got a few that feel special. “Paralyzed”, “Bacardi”, “Angels”. but “Summer Love” is the one we’re most excited about right now. just like all these other songs, it’s not out yet, but it perfectly captures what we call Electric Nostalgia. that glowing, heart-racing kind of feeling where you know something isn’t going to last forever, but it still feels like the most important thing that’s ever happened to you. it’s like the sound of a memory you will always remember like a movie scene being made in real time.

Your favourite song to play live:

“believe in u” always brings something different to the set. the beat is so locked in, and there’s this fun, back-and-forth chemistry between us that just lights up when we play it. between the drums groove and the rapped verses it’s playful, it’s tight, and it always feels like the moment where the show fully kicks into gear. it reminds us why we love doing this.

The song that was the longest to write and why?

“Time of My Life” took the longest to bring to the finish line. it was our first time working in a proper studio with a real producer, and that process was brand new to us. it just took time to figure out how to shape it, layer by layer, into something that matched what we were hearing in our heads. it was a journey, but it became something that defines who we are as a band now.

Your most emotional track:

“Rain the Day You Died” is probably the heaviest song we’ve ever written. it’s a six-minute story about losing a friend. told as it happened, no hiding behind anything. just a story about a connection, and what it felt like to lose it. I think people connect with it because it doesn’t try to be too poetic or clever. it’s just real, and it hurts, and sometimes that’s all you need a song to be.

Dream collaboration:

There are a few artists we’d love to build something with. Billie Eilish, Halsey, and Lorde are some obvious choices because of the way they create entire worlds with their music. there’s depth and vision and intention in everything they do. Tyler Joseph from Twenty One Pilots would be huge for us too in terms of production style. He’s a master at world-building, and we’re super inspired by how immersive his work is. that’s what we want to do too. Build something people can live in.

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

It’s like flipping a switch. all the noise just disappears. we become the most honest versions of ourselves. confident, untouchable, wide open. it’s this weird clarity where for once we’re not overthinking. Just doing. It feels like we could take on anything. like we’ve finally stepped into who we’re supposed to be.

The hardest track to play live:

“One for the Road” is definitely the most demanding. the drum part is technical and full of explosive fills, the rapping has to stay locked in with the rhythm, and the choruses hit big. by the end, the whole thing kind of builds up into this great chaos, in the best way. it takes a lot of focus and energy to get through it, but when we do, it feels massive. it’s a full-body experience for sure.

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

Books, a camera, a skateboard, headphones for sure, and comfy clothes, always. oversized hoodies, baggy tee shirts, sweatpants. stuff that makes it feel like home, even if we’re halfway across the country. being cosy is underrated.

Describe your fans in three words:

Emotional. intense. beautiful.

A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:

“I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes)” by The 1975 or “Supercut” by Lorde. both of those songs capture something we’re always chasing. that mix of cinematic emotion and brutal honesty. “Supercut” feels like running through memories you wish had played out differently, and “I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes)” is like the closing credits of a life you’re still trying to survive. they both say things we’ve felt but never knew how to put into words. that’s the kind of song writing we look up to.

What we can look forward to from your band this year:

We’re planning to put out singles one by one from our next album. thinking of each one like a small chapter in this weird, beautiful story. songs like Paralyzed, Bacardi, Summer Love, and Angels are all coming soon. we’re dropping a ton of content around them too. videos, photos, stories. we’re hoping it feels like a universe, not just an album. we’re hoping to build something special.
