Every day this month we are taking a look at a variation of couples from different television shows. It is the month of ‘love’ so it in tradition we are looking at the world of relationships. There will be spoilers throughout so be warned!

Day 14 – Dick and Mary,

3rd Rock From The Sun

We need some silliness on this list and when we look at television couples there is one that really brings this sort of fun – Dick Solomon and Mary Albright from 3rd Rock From The Sun.

I only watched this for the first time in it’s entirety in 2023 and I loved it. There is so much silliness and hilarious moments as Dick has to navigate the life of being a human and trying to understand the unusual life as an undercover alien.

John Lithgow and Jane Curtin bring these characters to life and I don’t think anyone else could play them as hilarious and dramatic as these two. There are so many great episodes – the best ones are when Dick tries to ‘woo’ Mary and then try and first dates her.

You always believe at parts that Dick can be incredibly bizarre and silly but Mary adores that quirkiness and there is so much love there and it is obvious throughout. It is an very funny relationship which is so fun to watch.
