The festive period is here and there are so many shows that are available for audiences to go and watch! Over the next few weeks, we will be talking to lots of different shows and performers about what they have in store for this time of year! Today we find out all about the show that Liverpool Comedy Improv are hosting over the festive period. On the 20th December, they are hosting The Annual Christmas Improv Palaver Show! at the Liverpool Arts Bar starting at 7pm.
Hello tell us a little bit about yourself! What is the show that you are bringing to the stage in this Festive season?
Liverpool Comedy Improv presents…. The Annual Christmas Improv Palaver Show!
All the teams performing have been taught by myself at Liverpool Comedy Improv (LCI). Apart from Jen Hardy and Stuart Moses who are associated teachers at LCI
A show with 5 different improv teams from the Liverpool area including:
Moses & Bird (two-prov)
Pick n Mix (short form)
Broken Chair (long form)
Jen Hardy (solo)
Tell us all about the character that you play?
There’s 5 improv teams performing. My team is Moses & Bird – a duo with myself and the wonderful Stuart Moses @improvlondon.
Will there be a bit of festivity in your show?
Im sure they’ll be some festive references. The Oickers are well known for their puns so I reckon they’ll have a few ‘crackers’ up their sleeve!
I’m hoping some Christmas jumpers make an appearance! They’ll be a Xmas tree and fairy lights at the venue too. Maybe even mulled wine!
What are your favourite things about the festive season and why?
I like fairy lights in windows and Christmas trees all lit up. I love silly Xmas jumpers. And all the tons of chocolates. Oh and Bailey’s on tap!
This time of year the venues tend to be a bit busier as well – do you find that the audience changes at all?
I think the audiences at LCI gigs are expecting our usual good vibes. But at Xmas in particular I think audiences expect to be entertained (with some Xmas puns maybe!) and are genuinely up for a good comedy night out.
What advice would you give for people performing around the festive season?
Don’t get drunk! Speak up! Love the audiences just that little bit more. Make ’em feel special!
What is the best thing about a night at your show for the audience?
The audience at LCI gigs mostly know each other. So it’s a fabulous opportunity to see people you maybe haven’t seen for a while. And it’s a chance for people to get to meet the wider community at LCI. I know people spanning across 10 years! But some newer folks might not realise they are part of something amazing here at LCI- an awesome community of improv people. So our shows are the perfect place to meet and connect with loads of improv folks in Liverpool.
