A Quick Conversation With...

INTERVIEW -A Quick Conversation with: Daniel Schamroth

Welcome the feature where we ask musicians or bands five really tough questions about music! Today I speak to Daniel Schamroth who has recently released the new single Skyscraper. Today he answers some tough music questions…

What is the hardest lyric you have ever had to write and why?

I wrote a song called Hummingbird which is actually quite a distressing one for me as it was written about a close friend who took their own life. But it’s also about saying goodbye and remembering how incredible that person was.

What is the weirdest gift or compliment a fan has given you?

I once was given a really wet sweaty T-shirt by an audience member at a gig which they had printed with some really weird nonsensical text on and asked me to wear it which was really weird…I did wear it though, but not for long.

Who is the best band or musician you have had the pleasure to share the stage with?

Noel Gallagher at Powderham Castle. Dream gig for me. He’s definitely a hero songwriting wise, he’s the reason I picked up the guitar, along with the Beatles and a few others.

What one of your songs has been the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?

In my band The Loft Club, we had a song called Flicker, which US singer Lisa Loeb added a verse to, so whenever we played it live it was like ‘who’s gonna sing Lisa’s bit?’ As she was all the way out in America …but we usually worked it out.

Dream Collaboration and why ?

I once had a really magical dream that Jimmy Hendrix was playing this incredible psychedelic concert with John Lennon but it was inside a giant flower…if I could recreate that into a real gig, that would be quite something.

I’d love to  even meet any of The Beatles, let alone have the chance to jam with them…what an experience that would be.
