New Album Deep Dive – INTERVIEW – Clever, Fire The Humans

Welcome to the feature where we sit down and talk to bands and artists about their latest albums to find out all about it. Today we speak to the band Fire The Humans to find out about the album Clever.

Hello nice to meet you, tell us about yourself!

Fire the Humans started as I was writing for my solo project throughout Covid. I had been the singer/songwriter for a band called thePour, but wanted to explore other avenues of what I was wanting out of music.

Tell us about the new album:

‘CLEVER’ is the new single that was released on Oct. 31st, 2024. Inspired by the constant revolving game of attraction through social media.

Favourite track in new album and why?

‘CLEVER’ has such an incredible hook and melodic flow. I also think in this day and age where people are trying to fill a void with social media, they’ll relate to the scenario of someone they like are also playing a game. Having their cake and eat it too. You’d like to thin you’re the only one they’re f’ing with… but you’re not.

Tell us a bit about the recording process, was it fun to do?

I have to be inspired to create a melody, hook and lyrics. Once that connection is made, that’s when I send it to my writing partner/producer, John DeNosky. He’s a great musical partner because not only does he understand my vision, but I trust his as well. He begins to construct the bed to accompany everything else. He gets it to a point where hes ready for critiques and then we discuss it. Certainly doesn’t happen overnight, but always worth the wait.

What inspired the album name?

‘CLEVER’ is how I view the game that people play through social media and their approach to getting attention. If someone falls short, someone else is waiting in the shadows to take their spot. Seems clever to me, very intentional.

Tell us the idea behind the album cover?

I pictured in my head the colour red. Simple. Unbiased. Almost elegant as the game is played. Let the song say it.

What one of your songs on the new album do you think will the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?

I have many singles where I have to hit higher notes, but from a rehearsal standpoint, it’s just a matter of repetition. When the members that are hired to play come in, they’re professionals and never an issue.

Why should people listen to the album?

Fire the Humans catalogue is sexy, raspy, soulful and always laid on top of an incredible feeling bed of music that makes you feel something. ‘CLEVER’ is no different. .
