Every Sunday we are taking a look at the world of books. I read a lot and always want to share my opinions on what I read, so I thought it would be fun to write reviews. Today we are looking at a classic book about the boy that never grew up.
Peter And Wendy (1904)
John Matthew Barry
Synopsis
It is a thrilling adventure for all ages; the story of the boy who refuses to grow up is a tale that never gets old. It follows the Darling children – Wendy, John and Michael – who befriend the magical Peter and are whisked away to the Never-Land, where the villainous Captain Hook and the brave Lost Boys await.
– from Waterstones
Positive Points
I have never really been a fan of Peter Pan so I decided to read this book and whilst my opinions have not changed, I preferred the book so much more to any other format that I have seen the story played out. It is so much more in depth then the films or television shows and gives you an insight into the world of Peter Pan that you don’t get from other media. It is a very well written book with a lot of detail and it is a page turner.
Negative Points
You may find it a negative that it is actually darker then the Disney version which may not appeal to you, also there is language that is now out of date that you may not like.
Overall Review
I thought this was a really interesting book and the fact that I have never been a fan of the story this gave me a lot of perspective other medias haven’t. It is one of those books you want to maybe read once in your lifetime.
