NEW FEATURE! The Travel Book – Venues Venture – The Boiler Shop, Newcastle, United Kingdom

I have been to many concerts, it is one of the things that makes me incredibly happy. I know it seems maybe a bit bizarre talking about gigs in this strand but I thought of something – gig venues are ‘technically’ related to travel. I have had to travel many times for concerts and sometimes it is hard to find out what the venues are actually like, from a visitor perspective. So, ever so often, I am going to talk about different venues and will tell you my personal experiences of them. Today we are going to talk about a venue that inspired it.

The Boiler Shop, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne

The Boiler Shop is located just behind Newcastle train station – which is really convenient if you are coming from out of town. There are also a handful of hotels that are nearby as well which means that you can stay close to it as well. The Boiler Shop has a capacity of 1,000 meaning that it is a great location to go to concerts. The venue is also a place that is used for other things such as markets.

I found this location great for music – the acoustics were really good and there was enough space that if you didn’t want to be in the front or in the crowded areas then you can still get a good view from further back. There is also a bar a the back as well where you can purchase drinks and toilets close by as well which is really helpful.

Alkaline Trio – the band I saw at Boiler Shop

I would say that it was a lovely venue for shows and I would definitely recommend to go and visit. The photographs that you see today are from the concert that I went to, I was at the front but it was not that big so I could of got good views from the back as well.
