REVIEW – Improv At The Fringe – Showstopper! The Improvised Musical

If there is one act that know how to put on an amazing improv show then it is Showstopper. I have never seen them before until tonight but their reputation proceeds them. After seeing them today I am pleased to say that they are worth the hype around them and if you want to see improv at its greatest then this is the show you have to go and see.

At the start they get the audience to come up with narrative ideas, of course like any good improv suggestions, there is only one tonight. The other suggestions about a poison water well, sleepy agents and a battle go down really well and the winner is the poison well. The name is called Well, Well, Well, a perfectly constructed pun by an audience member who wins a showstopper greatest hits cd, well deserved!

The audience then choose the three type of musicals that will inspire the songs – which includes mamma Mia and Rent. The show is a fantastical musical delight. Like any great improv it doesn’t feel made up on the spot, if feels like it is a well produced west end show that we are the millionth audience to witness, but we are not, it is new, it is made up and that is why it’s so phenomenal.

Whatever you do this fringe make sure you see this show, it is an audience crowd pleaser and you will walk away singing a made up song and a hufe smile on Tori face.
