Hello! Tell us about yourself?

How do. I’m a comedian, northerner and biscuit enthusiast. For the past six years, I’ve been doing stand up, and for two years I’ve been doing it professionally. My current goal however, is to find the same level of confidence as my neighbour, who tries to play instruments without really understanding what a musical key actually is. So brave.

Tell us all about your show!

It’s my second hour I’m taking to the fringe, and it’s based on some unsolicited feedback I received once when being put through to the next stage of a comedy competition, which was, ‘Louise Atkinson; sounds good, looks a mess’. So it’s looking at how we falsely make presumptions about people based on how they look. I’ve also got a bit about Masterchef and a Victoria sponge, so, you know, everyone’s covered.

How did you come up with the name for the show you’re taking to the fringe?

I was on a train without signal, so I had to rely on the playlist I had downloaded on my Spotfiy, which was 80’s rock. Roxette – The Look came on, and I thought, ‘That’ll do’. The other option was Money for Nothing by Dire Straits, which as a comedian at the fringe I thought wouldn’t be the best promotion.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

There are some absolute gems up this year. Amy Mason; Fiona Ridgewell; Aaron Twitchen; Si Beckwith; Bella Humphries; Hannah Platt; Harriet Dyer; Katie Pritchard; Amy Gleadhill – there are just so many class acts up this year.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe?

This will be my second time taking an hour to the fringe, and my 5th time going overall. My advice would be choose a good TV series to chill out to when you get home. I opted for the Golden Girls last year and what a great decision on my part. That combined with an occasional interjection of the Paddington movies was *chefs kiss*

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

The only thing that remains routine at the fringe is I wake up, do my scheduled show, forget to eat a vegetable and at some point hear a group of silent Disco participants clapping their way along Teviot place. Each day is so different.

What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?

To remember what you’re doing is meant to be fun and if it goes wrong it’s ok. It’s not brain surgery, nobody is going to die if you get your show wrong that day. Unless your show is ‘Brain Surgery: Live– The Musical’, you really should be careful, and in tune preferably. I swear to god if my untune neighbour’s in that, I’m going to kick off.

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

Big question this. I always like a once round the food trucks, check out what’s new and different. However, look, I know it’s cliché because I’m northern but it has to be done – The Piemaker is of course fantastic.

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

Without question getting to see a bunch of people leave your show, feeling a little happier than when they came in.

Top tips for travelling around the Fringe and getting to shows on time?

Put a lanyard on, and flyerers won’t bother you. Have a face like thunder, and people won’t want to talk to you. Say you’re part of an improv group, and people will run in the opposite direction.

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?

Decent rain coat. Comfortable pair of trainers for walking in all day. Berocca – a very large supply of Berocca.

What’s the secret to successful flyering?

Not a clue. I just grab people by the scruff of the neck and chuck them in my venue. Maybe not that.

If people want to find out more about you, where can they follow you on social media?

I am on Twitter and Instagram: @_latkinson_ and you can have a gander at my page on Facebook: @louiseatkinsoncomedy

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

Will. Be. Biscuits.
