The Travel Book – Travel Through A Photo – York, United Kingdom

There is always a story behind a photograph and I thought it would be a fun way to look at the world of travel. So, welcome to the feature that will appear regularly in the travel section.

If there is one thing I really love then it is the architecture of certain buildings. I am not a religious person but the interior of churches are usually fascinating and today we are going to look at one that I found incredibly impressive.

When you get these grand spaces, there is one thing a lot of people forget to do and that is look up. When I say that I mean properly look up and look at the work of the ceiling.

If there is one thing that is really impressive about York Minster then it is the ceiling – the architecture in that alone is phenomenal and really worth a look.

Today’s photograph is of the ceiling and the thing I loved about it was just how detailed it was. The ceilings are very high which I think can be defined by this photograph. I love how warming the colours are and if you look at it more then once you will notice that there are different colours in it that make it shimmer. I really like the pillars and the way they have this simple but really in depth design.

I really like this photograph as it may be of a ceiling but the more you look at it the more that you actually see.
