With it being Edinburgh Fringe month on the Phoenix Remix, I thought it would be fun to write a few travel articles about the festival and what I have learnt over the years I have visited that there are some interesting topics to discuss.
This Week – Why I Love The Royal Mile…
IF you go to Edinburgh Fringe there will be one place that will really stand out to you – The Royal Mile. It is the heart of the fringe, it is the home of the flyer and it is the world of the Edinburgh Fringe Promotion. Yes, it is a place that when you visit you cannot avoid as you will get bombarded by show leaflets but there is so many reasons why to really like this area and here is what I enjoy about it.
The entertainment
The one thing that I really love about the Royal Mile is the entertainment – you can go there are any time of the day and there will be some new street performance or mini show happening to promote what is happening around the Fringe. There are some fantastic shows that happen and it is so different as you are experiencing them in such a different environment to a room and that makes such a huge difference.
The atmosphere
If there is one thing that is magic about the Royal Mile in Edinburgh Fringe is the atmosphere – it is buzzing, it is busy it is definitely very different. There is this wonderful fun feeling in the air and whilst it is incredibly busy it is a fascinating place to go – if you get time just sit there and people watch – it really is an experience.
Meeting New People
The one thing that is is a great place for is speaking to new people and finding out about the acts in person. It can create a more personal touch instead of just a leaflet and that can be really fun.
