Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Angelina Luzi

Tell us about:

Your latest single you have released:

The lasted single is called Lana Rossa, it’s a track from my debut album out that came out in May. It’s a mix of Italian and English. I like to mix the two languages because I was born in Italy from English mother and Italian father so I am a bit of both. Lana Rossa is about that very vulnerable space when you’re waiting for an answer and how fragile you feel so I used threads of red wool as an metaphor for this song.

Your favourite lyric in this song:

Aspetto appesa ad un filo di lana rossa
I wait hanging on a thread of red wool

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

I think it’s Blackbird. It has a beautiful arrangement that my producer Nick Burns helped me to create and it’s a song about freedom and self expression.

Your favourite song to play live:

Silent Moon is a song that is a great opening for a gig, it sets the tone really well and it reminds me of how far I’ve come and overcome some difficult moments in life.

The song that was the longest to write and why?

Life was the longest to write as it took me awhile to figure out that I was in a  5/4 time signature so preparing a demo for this song was a tough one.

Your most emotional track:

Nessuna Come Te is definitely the most emotional, I still get a knot in my throat every time I play it and sometimes still shed a tier or two. It’s a song dedicated to my mother that I wrote when she was ill with cancer. I write it as a spell of protection and healing. Luckily she has now overcome the illness but it was one of the scariest moments of my life so it’s a song very close to my heart.

Dream collaboration:

Jacob Collier

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

I feel very nervous and excited at the same time, I look forward connecting with people, they say this is a good feeling and one that never goes away.

The hardest track to play live:

Let It Go has been one of the hardest ones to play because it has a strange timing so I have my concentrated face on for the beginning until I get to the end and can really let my self go and embody the song fully!
