Sunday Book Club: Sense and Sensibility, Jane Austin

Every Sunday we are taking a look at the world of books. I read a lot and always want to share my opinions on what I read, so I thought it would be fun to write reviews. Today we are looking at a book that is classed as a classic.

Sense and Sensibility (1811)

Jane Austin

Synopsis

The novel follows the three Dashwood sisters and their widowed mother as they are forced to leave the family estate at Norland Park and move to Barton Cottage, a modest home on the property of distant relative Sir John Middleton. There Elinor and Marianne experience love, romance, and heartbreak. The novel is set in South West England, London, and Sussex, probably between 1792 and 1797

Positive Points

Classics are classics for a reason and this is one of those books that when you read it you can understand why it has created so much inspiration for others and so many different versions have been made of it. The story is engaging and enjoyable that it is a book you want to keep reading.

Negative Points

It was a book that was written over 200 years ago so there is a lot of things in it that may feel outdated but it was a different time but it may not appeal to all. It can feel at times that the story goes round in circles.

Overall Review

This book is an easy read and also an enjoyable one. I would say if you want to explore classic books, give this one a try.
