Every day this month we are taking a look at a different rom com everyday to celebrate that it is a leap year in 2024 and valentines day also being in the same month.

Day 8 – Kate & Leopold

Today we are looking at a film I have only seen a couple of times when I was a kid. I wanted to mention it however as it is a film I am not sure that many people have seen and felt it was time to give it a bit more time in the limelight.

Here is the synopsis:

An English Duke from 1876 is inadvertently dragged to modern day New York where he falls for a plucky advertising executive.

I have already stated in previous articles this month that I am not a fan of time travel films but I feel I had to include this because I think this was the first film I ever saw Hugh Jackman in and was surprised when he started popping up everywhere.

This film is incredibly cheesy but if you are looking for something a bit different then it may be a film that interests you. It follows the trend that was very big at this time of independent work women not being that lucky in love and then Hugh Jackman happens to help change that.

It is not your average rom com and it is one I haven’t seen since I was a kid but watching the trailer again after all this time made me remember that it is a fun watch, if anything unique and you get to witness Hugh’s ‘English’ accent.
