Welcome the feature where we ask musicians or bands five really tough questions about music! Today I speak to Jack Baldwin, the frontman of the band Wild Horse. They are set to play their first gig of 2024 next week on the February 7th headlining at the Star Of Kings in Kings Cross . Today I throw some tough questions about the music industry at Jack,
What is the hardest lyric you have ever had to write and why?
I don’t know. I don’t think there’s been a hard lyric to write necessarily. I like to take my time with my songs. Especially with the lyrics. Often my songs will have no lyrics for months because I wait for the right lyrics to come to me. And when it feels right, they’re easy to write.
What is the weirdest gift or compliment a fan has given you?
I don’t know if we’ve had any weird gifts. Any gifts we do get from fans are really appreciated by us. We love our fans, they’re the best. I can’t think of anything that has been anything short of nice really. I don’t think we have any weird stories about stuff like that.
Who is the best band or musician you have had the pleasure to share the stage with?
Probably our drummer, Ed Barnes. He’s an exceptionally good drummer. I don’t think he knows how good he is. The best drummer I’ve seen in the years we’ve been playing shows, and we’re lucky enough to have him in our band.
What one of your songs has been the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?
I think our current single “Attraction” was really difficult to transfer to the live show. Because it’s such a sonically weird song, with loss of little synthy and electronic bits. It’s getting hard for a three piece like us to be able to play our songs live with just the three of us. So, in the new year we might be looking to get some extra musicians for our lives shows to help bring the songs to life. So, watch out for that.
Dream Collaboration and why?
I don’t know if I have a dream collaboration per say. It would depend on the song. If I wrote a song that I felt like needed a certain artist on it then a collab would be great, but we wouldn’t do a collab just for the sake of having a certain artist on our song. That being said I’d love to duet Wild Horses with Mick Jagger at a show one day, we all love him & has been a massive influence from the first song that got me into music, “Sympathy For The Devil”.
