The Travel Book – Montrose, Scotland

If there is one thing that I love about Scotland then it is the coastline – you can go to different areas of the country and you will be welcomed with such a dramatic difference in the coast and the way you see the ocean. Today we are heading to the area of Angus to have a look at one of the towns on the coastline there.

Montrose is located just under 30 miles away from Dundee and 40 miles away from Aberdeen and is easy to get to either by bus, train or car. It is a town that is known as a form royal burgh and has a population of approximately 12,000 people. It is a place that is known for it’s port which helps with the oil and gas industry.

I have visited Montrose a number of times and I think it is a place that you may want to check out the next time you are in the area. If you are a fan of nature, there is a huge basin which is the home to thousands of birds and is a thriving nature reserve. There is also a lot of history around the town and the coast which is really interesting to see.

Whilst some of the coastline of Montrose is industrial, there a lot of it that is really impressive and beautiful. One of my favourite areas to visit in Montrose is the lighthouse as it is so striking and a wonderful piece of construction.

I would really recommend visiting Montrose if you are a fan of coastal walks, nature and history - I have been a few times and I sill feel that there is so much more to see and will visit again and again.
