Tell us about:
Your latest single you have released:
We recently released the song “Mouse” which is a fast-paced rager about the pleasures of a toxic relationship. It’s one of our favorite tracks we’ve recorded! Super fun to perform live, as well.
Your first single and how you felt when it was released:
We actually released a full album as our first release! It’s entitled “Second-Best”, after a line from the last song, “F.M.”. We were all elated and excited to release the fruit of our early efforts. I still rock out to it all the time.
Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:
I love “Zeroes”. We worked with Ben Kaplan, a producer, to really refine the sound of this one and the other two tracks on our upcoming EP, “Zero Gravity”. “Zeroes” is dedicated to a woman I know who passed away, and it means a lot to me. And I love the way it sounds, it’s sort of equal parts Joy Division, Bauhaus, and Patti Smith.
Your favourite song to play live:
“Mouse” for sure. It’s high-energy and I love to jump around and sing it. It’s sort of an angry, sexy song.
Your most emotional track:
Either “Zeroes” or “Violator”, which is off our first album (first song on that album). I guess they both touch on the theme of suicide, but inspired by different people. “Violator” has this Iggy Pop feel I really like.
The best lyric you have ever written:
“The world outside has lost its sound/The voices carry me no meaning/Spirits high, it brings me down/I’m not quite as well as I’m feeling//I exist in different fictions/My own private paradise/Bless me, give me benediction/We are zeroes, but we are high..
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
I always get butterflies in my stomach and feel a little nauseous, to be honest. But when I pick up the microphone the rest of the world drops away and you sort of freeze time in this little, amazing encapsulated bubble.
The hardest track to play live:
Jin: Hmm that’s a toughie. For me it’s probably “Bodies”. It’s got a bit of a David Bowie inspired pre-chorus and then a James Brown “whoop” that tests my vocal range.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
I’m a fantastic packer since I’ve moved around so much! In my humble opinion, haha. Definitely a travel pillow, eye pillow to block out light, toiletries, makeup, lots of spandex and leather.
Describe your fans in three words:
Energetic, amazing, inspiring.
A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:
I wish I’d written “No. 1 Crush” by Garbage. That song is such a vibe. It’s so grungy and dark and extremely sexy.
What we can look forward to from your band for the rest of 2023 and 2024:
We released a 3-song EP entitled “Zero Gravity” on November 10th. It contains the last track (unreleased) “Bodies” as well as “Mouse” and “Zeroes”. We’re working on new stuff to be released next year, as well. If you check out our insta, we also post all of our upcoming shows! Thanks so much.
