There are so many songs that are out there everywhere then all of a sudden they disappear and you only hear from them very rarely that they can create a sense of nostalgic for you, the listener. So roll up and welcome to Forgotten Songs where we celebrate these forgotten wonders.
Closing Time – Semisonic
Today we are heading back to the late nineties to look at a song that still gets played quite a lot if you listen radio stations such as Radio X.
Closing Time was an Indie track that was released by the band Semisonic on the 10th March 1998. The track was written by the band member Dan Wilson and produced by Nick Launey (who in the past has also produced for Public Image Ltd, The Slits, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. )
Closing Time is the lead single off the American groups second studio album called Feeling Strangely Fine.
The song did relatively well in the charts and went to number 2 in Canada Rock / Alternative Charts, number 25 in the United Kingdom and number 1 in the US Alternative Airplay Charts.
The first time I ever heard this track was on the Office US when Andy sings it to his staff at the end of the day. It is a song that s nice to hear and a fun little ballad.
