There is always a story behind a photograph and I thought it would be a fun way to look at the world of travel. So, welcome to the feature that will appear regularly in the travel section.
Sometimes, things can happen that mean you plans change last minute and sometimes it can be for the worst and sometimes it can be a great delight. In 2012, I was on a cruise to Norway, I had a fantastic time and I have written about it a lot on this website you have maybe read about it. Well, the last stop of that trip was cancelled because Norway was in a state of peaceful strikes and protests meaning we could not stop at the final port. This meant that we were diverted to a new location – Bruges.
Bruges was never somewhere I had thought of going so being taken there spontaneously was interesting. We didn’t have long there but it was enough to walk around and explore.
This photograph was taken near the end of our time in the city that I discovered it last minute and I am so glad that we did.
I really like this bridge and it was really unusual as it had a statue on it. I felt that Bruges felt like ti was stuck in history and it felt like it had a lot of age to it.
I really adore the angle of this photograph and the way the boat sort of is at an angle that creates a contrast.
