Podcast Episodes That Changed My Life – Three’s A Crowd, Fours A Chore

I have always been a huge fan of podcasts, I have listened to podcasts as far back at 2008 I think it was although I never really listened to them until a few years later. My first real introduction to the world of podcasts was when I was in my last year of university and had to spend hours in the classroom with two of my friends working on our coursework into the very early hours of the morning. It would just be the three of us, myself, Matt and Tom and whilst we were working, the podcasts of The Ricky Gervais show was blasting out into the room. It was in the moment I realised that podcasts can create so much comedy and can really sort of act like a ‘best friend.’ It also sort of created a special bonding moment between the three of us and I am still very much close friends with them today.

Over the years, I have learnt that podcasts can really be so much more then the ‘laugh’ and whilst I do listen to a lot of podcasts to help get me through the tough days, the good days and the times I have to work through the night, I also have found that it can be so much more.

Over the years, the idea of what a podcast is has obviously developed, especially with the pandemic and so many more have arisen and so much more content is now available and in a saturated market it can be hard to find really good shows. I have learnt that sometimes episodes of certain podcasts can really have an effect and over time I have shown my appreciation for these episodes on my social media channels.

I spoke about the podcast episode that inspired me to start writing this feature, and you can read more about it here. This week we are heading to a podcast that has a lot of things about relationships. sex and a whole lot more you didn’t even expect….

Podcast Episodes That Changed My Life
Episode: Three’s a Crowd, Fours a Chore
Podcast: Sh**ged Married Annoyed

I love stand up comedy, it is something that I have been a fan of for a very long time, however there was one comedian (and I am sure there are many more but we will focus on this particular one today) that I never made the effort to listen to and that was Chris Ramsay. It was nothing against him, I just got into a habit of relistening to comedians that I was already a fan of and I never really made an effort to listen or go and see him live.

“…This podcast became so addictive that I was listening to them back to back for 8-12 hours a day...”

Let’s jump back to the middle of last year, I was in a job that I didn’t really like and the days that I worked there went slow and very long. I listen to a lot of podcasts but by this time I was getting very bored of the shows that I was listening to. I had seen that Chris Ramsay’s podcast was huge and that it had sold out arenas and even had a book released about it. I knew nothing about it apart from it’t name S****** Married, Annoyed. So one morning, when work was incredibly quiet and there was nothing to do I put one of my headphones in and pressed play on the first ever episode…

My life wasn’t the same again.

I became completely and utterly addicted to this show, I think the main reason why I initially fell in love with it is because the relationship between Chris and his wife Rosie is so fun ad hilarious that you could not help but want to listen to more. I love the early episodes because they are finding their feet and still discovering what the podcast is and that is what makes it so fun because it is so raw.

“... It is so truthful and just like a normal conversation between a couple that it makes it so fun to listen to...”

This podcast became so addictive that I was listening to them back to back for 8-12 hours a day. There were so many episodes that I am still not up to date yet and I still binge listen to it when I have to travel for work.

I recently decided to listen to the first episode all over again after I decided to write about it, the last time I listened to it was when I first started the podcast so it was really weird to go back to the beginning. It is really weird to go back after listening to nearly 200 as it feels like it hasn’t changed it rawness and it’s style which is very rare for a podcast and also I think is the key as to why it has become so successful. It is so truthful and just like a normal conversation between a couple that it makes it so fun to listen to. It is fun to see where all the ideas for the sections came about and how far they have come as some of these are even in the television shows.

The one thing I adore about this podcast is they didn’t want to make it all lovely dovey but focus on the tiny problems of being in a long term relationship which is very funny. Even from the beginning, the interaction between the duo and their listeners with the questions from the public are fantastic. It is also interesting and funny to hear how they met and fell in love.

This is a fantastic podcast and I urge you to listen to it as it is such a hilarious show, it has everything you want from a relationship podcast and if you want a show that you will become addicted to, then this is the podcast for you.
