It is not easy to find a show to see at the Fringe before midday as a lot start in the afternoon, there is one show though, that starts at 11am a show that in its own right could definitely compete with others that are on later in the afternoon. I have got to say though, it is incredibly refreshing to have the option to see a show in the morning and a good one at that.
It’s hard to put this show in a box and say it is one genre because it is not, Michael Kunze Infinity Mirror has a lot to offer, it has character, it has improv, it has audience interaction and it has music. That is only a tiny insight into what it actually is.
The show invites you into this world where an actor is being interviewed by a podcast and throughout it delves into his career and the different films he has been a part of whilst also giving a whole different twist on the world of Tom Hanks ( you may not even look at him in the same way again!)
The one thing that really stands out right from the start is Michaels crisp and precise timing, the whole show is him reacting to a recording on his laptop and it is the key function of the show. The whole time I was constantly waiting to see if there was a gap or of he would over run but it was impeccable and it never happened once.
The show is full of a range of characters and the touch of improv throughout is something that you will believe is missing from other character based shows. The only interaction with the audience is when he asks for suggestions it isn’t clear at first that this is what is happening as it delves out of character scripting so swiftly it comes as a surprise but works incredibly well and there will always be parts of the show that will be fresh and new.
Michael is a person of many talents, the rapping and the musical sections of the show are the highlights and brings a completely fresh take on the ideology of characters you may already know and love.
This show is in the Wee Room at Three Sisters and at first you are not sure how it will work as it is a small room but for the topic of the show I think it is an environment that is needed.
I would not of believed I was seeing the first show of the Fringe as it was so well done and I highly recommend you add it to your show list. If you are a fan of Connor For Real from The Lonely Island film Popstar Never Stop Never Stopping or Michael Scott, you will really enjoy this.
