Hello! Tell us about yourself?
Hello! I am a girl from Birmingham who doesn’t have anything else going on. I’ve been doing standup for a bit now. I’d say it’s a hobby that’s got a bit out of hand. I’ve always enjoyed making people laugh, it warms my soul. I think I was loved too much as a child (thanks mom) and now I constantly crave attention and this is the best way to do it. I was 2021 British Comedian of the Year Finalist, have appeared on Comedy Central and Channel 4, and have recently been a support act for Russell Kane, Angela Barnes and Joe Lycett, including doing one of Joe’s arena shows at Wembley Arena!
How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the fringe?
A friend of mine suggested I call the show ‘Pink’, and I thought how can I make it sound a bit more cheeky without it actually being rude so ‘Tinge’ was added. You know, because of what it rhymes with. I think you have to have the wrong kind of mindset to make the connection and those are my people.
Tell us all about your show!
Ah! where do I begin? it’s a cacophony of my silly life stories and my adventures of trying to be a better person, I suppose. It’s not one of those shows with a sad bit or a profound message because I don’t think I can preach to others when half of the time I don’t know where I’ve put my phone. As it’s my debut show, it feels like this is me coming out to society like one of those debutant balls but rather than being introduced to society in a nice dress, society will probably be asking me to go back in and be quiet.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
Darren Harriott, Harriet Dyer, Josh Pugh, James Cook, Celya AB
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
This is the first time I have done a full run at the Fringe. I was part of Sian Davies’ Best in Class show in 2018 which supports working class comedians and as part of its alumni I very kindly received a bursary for my run this year through Sian and Best in Class.
My advice would be don’t have a baby a year before you’re planning to go to Edinburgh because it’s very inconvenient and loud.
Favourite one liner you have done in a show and why?
I’m more of a narrative comedian so I don’t really have a one liner to share but I have a joke about my partner and I love it because he hates me telling it. Things change in relationships – when me and my partner first started going out I got butterflies, now I look at him and I feel like I’ve got worms.
What have been some of the most unique and different comedy shows you have seen this year and why?
I co-host a monthly comedy night at the Hare and Hounds in Birmingham alongside Barbara Nice, Alice Rosenthal and Kate Glaze and we encourage all manner of unique and different acts to come and take part. Foxdog Studios were amazing when they headlined and they are up at the Fringe so make sure you check them out. I am super excited about going to see them!
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
I imagine it will start with a cup of tea and a cry, as I do most days. It’s important to keep some normality when you’re so far from home. Then I will see where the wind blows me! (hopefully to my venue in time for my show!)
I am planning to walk to the venue every day from my accommodation, but I know that I am so incredibly lazy I will, by the 3rd day I imagine, have arrange some kind of rickshaw to drag me into town. Give me a wave as I’m dragged past.
What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?
It’s a great festival so take the time to go out and see things you wouldn’t normally see, and pre book tickets if you! As an act, don’t compare yourself to what everyone else is doing and do it for you, this applies to most things.
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
I am really excited to be part of such a massive artist event, even if i feel like such a small part of it. Getting to perform to new audiences every day and I am really excited to be performing at the Pleasance as its such an iconic venue where comedians who I look up to have started out.
The most challenging thing about performing at the fringe?
The logistics! Also it’s a long time to be anywhere. I’m going with my partner and baby so that’ll be… interesting.
What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?
Hair straighteners, cake and a jar of other comedians tears
What’s the secret to successful flyering?
Ask someone else to do it who is more competent. I have previously been described as an ‘aggressive flyerer’ – I chase people, I chase them into the venue so they can find safety. Basically if any of my mates ask me to flyer its to their detriment.
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
My Mom but she can’t come because she doesn’t want to leave the dog at home, which is understandable.
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
One of my greatest creations is my website – it’s a html nightmare but I love it. www.lindseysantoro.co.uk

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
Something to do
