Hello! Tell us about yourself?

Hello! Oh, my favourite topic of conversation. I’m a standup comedian who also dabbles in comedy sketches on Instagram and TikTok. I like to think I talk about lots of different things, but I do have a particular love of all things camp, evil, or snooty posh mums (arguably the holy union of camp and evil).

How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the fringe?

The show is partly a love letter to the villains of my childhood – all without exception gay icons – so the name came naturally. It also felt like a great excuse to wear a cape.

Tell us all about your show!

This show is the culmination of all of my best jokes since I started performing stand-up, reminiscing about the 2000s. It was a weird era to grow up – why were we all convinced the Special K diet was the answer to all our problems? And as a gay kid, the only real role models to look up to on TV were… Jafar? Ursula the Sea Witch?

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

I can’t wait to see Celya AB’s show ‘Second Rodeo’. Her show last year was incredible and this one is going to be even better. Alexandra Haddow’s debut ‘Not My Finest Hour’ is also going to be stunning. And Sofie Hagen: ‘Banglord’. There will be no better title at the fringe this year.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

I’ve been to the Fringe every year since I was 20 (I also write musicals, so have been up with several of those). So I feel like I’m starting to get the hang of it. …Advice? Bring summery clothing. Every year I assume it’s going to be “Edinburgh Weather” and pack a suitcase of wools, then spend the month sweltering and dabbing at my sweat moustache.

Also mix up seeing household names, and taking a chance on some free shows. Some of them will be incredible. Some of them might be awful – which is even more delicious.

Favourite one liner you have done in a show and why?

I like my hair like I like my asshole – bleached. Why? Because comedy should always come from truth x

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

try to be healthy and not burn out during the fringe, so I usually get up, go for a little walk or jog, and head to Hula cafe for a green smoothie. As disgusting as I can possibly make it. Then I know I’ve had my health for the day.

After that it’s generally a mix of hurtling between shows with not quite enough time to get between venues, twisting my ankle on a cobble or a trampling a flyerer en route, and getting buzzed off my tits on coffees at Black Medicine with a friend. And then remembering to do my own show, of course.

What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?

See everything, chat with lots of people, but also take a day or two to just do absolutely nothing artistic or productive whatsoever. Be bougie. Go for a massage. Go shopping. Lie in bed with a bag of crisps and stare at the wall. You can have too much culture.

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

Seeing national treasures wandering along the streets with a box of cheesy chips.

The most challenging thing about performing at the fringe?

Figuring out which vocal remedies are legit, and which are snake oil. I’ve high hopes for echinacea enemas this year.

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?

A cafetière, a vocal steamer, and SPF 50.

What’s the secret to successful flyering?

Figure out who your sort of audience are. Not to judge a book by it’s cover, but do you actually want that book sitting in your audience with its arms folded, furious that it was tricked into seeing your one woman show about how gay Gollum was? Or something.

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

Tilda Swinton.

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

I’m @dnlfoxx on everything – although I’m most active on instagram and TikTok.

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

Jafar was a bottom. (…That’s four, but he didn’t play by the rules and neither shall I.)
