Hello! Tell us about yourself?
Hiya! We are “BossyB*tchProductions an all female and non-binary led theatre company dedicated towards creating “femme, fiery, thought-provoking theatre”.
How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the fringe?
We were on the bus at the last Edinburgh Fringe after a long day of flyering and performing, and the idea for In Memoriam was born. We wanted to write a show that explored a family in one place and one time and what better, or worse, than a funeral! The show is all about remembrance, in many different ways and when it debuts, we will quite literally be remembering the place in which we came up with the idea!
Tell us all about your show!
You are cordially invited to the funeral of Graham Stephen Woodman, a Grandad from nowhere.. From a troublesome priest to a mystery guest and a very, very late hearse, expect family fallouts, secret affairs and LOTS of chaos. Graham Stephen Woodman is a grandad from nowhere. Or was. But today he takes centre stage, or at least that’s what you would expect. It is, after all, HIS funeral.
In Memoriam invites you to join his nearest and dearest, in mourning on the morning of his big day. Watch closely as a solemn occasion becomes an ever so serious affair and this sweet memorial takes a preposterous turn….
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
Definitely Linus Karp’s Princess Diana, the untold and untrue story. We also have quite a few Twilight fans in our creative team so we’re intrigued by the Twilight spoof musical.
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
We have, our creative team were all involved in “The Last Words” which showed at the Fringe last year. Our key pieces of advice for new groups would be to embrace the craziness of the Fringe! This is probably one of the only places where endless entertainment is within reach of itself, so give that bonkers sounding show a go.
What have been some of the most unique and different comedy shows you have seen this year and why?
We performed at a scratch night in the South West earlier this year, where we got to share the stage with a number of new and exciting acts – it was so fun to see performers trying to stuff out and learning on the stage!
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
We start the day with a big team meeting to get everyone pumped up for the day – not forgetting a coffee! And then its off to the mile to flyer our socks off before a show at midday. Once the show is done, its time to explore Edinburgh and see all the other amazing performances on show!
What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?
See as much theatre as possible – the good, the bad and the ugly – it’s probably the only time in your life you will have that much theatre right at your fingertips.
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
The amazing variety of people you can have in an audience, so many people can come in from far and wide to join the festival and that’s so exciting!
The most challenging thing about performing at the fringe?
Getting an audience in everyday – it’s an exciting challenge to see a full audience when in the morning you may have only sold 10 tickets !
What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?
LX tape, A paid therapy bill and a reusable coffee cup!
What’s the secret to successful flyering?
A short tag line! Catch people in 10 words or less! Or do something crazy on the mile – you might even see us with a coffin…
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
Generic, but probably Phoebe Waller-Bridge – she is a huge inspiration to our writers and as a prominent and successful female creative, she is something our whole team aspires to.
