Every other Sunday we are taking a look at the world of books. I read a lot and always want to share my opinions on what I read, so I thought it would be fun to write reviews. Today we are looking at a book that is a true adventure taken on by Levison Wood.
Walking The Americas (2018)
Levison Wood
Synopsis
Walking the Americas chronicles Levison Wood’s 1,800 mile trek along the spine of the Americas, through eight countries, from Mexico to Colombia, experiencing some of the world’s most diverse, beautiful and unpredictable places.
His journey took him from violent and dangerous cities to ancient Mayan ruins lying still unexplored in the jungles of Mexico and Guatemala. He encountered members of indigenous tribes, migrants heading towards the US border and proud Nicaraguan revolutionaries on his travels, where at the end of it all, he attempted to cross one of the most impenetrable borders on earth: the Darien Gap route from Panama into South America.
This trek required every ounce of Levison Wood’s guile, tact, strength and resilience in one of the most raw, real and exciting journeys of his life.

Positive Points
If you are looking for a factual book that is engaging and also is a real page turner then this is a book that you will want to read. It is a book that is a really great read, exciting and informative all at once whilst also taking you on a great adventure. It gives you a detailed account of the adventures that happen in Mexico, Guatemala and even the Darien Gap, there are some fun stories along the way and also some pretty dramatic ones that can lead to a book that wants you to keep turning the page to find out more.
Negative Points
There are sections of the book that may come across to some readers as slightly gory as it goes into the depth of what they see when they come across certain gangs. I also feel that to understand all references made in the book, you maybe need to read others in his series to gain an understanding of the adventures mentioned.
Overall Review
In Conclusion, I think this book was a really great read and if you are looking for a book that is full of adventure then this is the one for you. Yes, Levison Wood may be walking but that does not mean that there are some great stories along the way that you will really enjoy.
