INTERVIEW – A Quick Conversation With: Andrew Smith

Welcome the feature where we ask musicians or bands five really tough questions about music! Today we speak to musician Andrew Smith who has recently released the single My Life Is A Movie which is the opening track from the album The Garden.

What is the weirdest gift or compliment a fan has given you?

One fan once told me, “I wish I had your hair. Not your voice, but your hair.” Yikes. Ouchy-wa-wa.

Who is the best band or musician you have had the pleasure to share the stage with?

Back when I was at Berklee, I had the opportunity to do a show with Ripe. Those guys are truly gems, and it’s been amazing to witness their rise to global recognition. I also had the privilege of singing backups for Kristin Chenoweth, and watching her lead a rehearsal and communicate with the orchestra was incredibly inspiring. She is a true class act in every sense.

Dream Collaboration and why?

My dream collaboration would be with Ben Rector. He has had a profound impact on me and was one of the reasons I started writing songs as a teenager. I’ve seen him perform live, and I’m in awe of the fanbase and the cultural significance he has created. He’s a remarkable artist and collaborating with him would be a dream come true.
