There is always a story behind a photograph and I thought it would be a fun way to look at the world of travel. So, welcome to a new feature that will appear regularly this year in the travel section. Today we are going to kick things off by looking at one of my favourite photos.
In 2013, I went on a cruise on the Caribbean and on the way, we stopped at the island of the Azores. I did not know much about them and was surprised about how wonderful they actually were. The first location that we stopped was Ponta Delgada and right from the start it amazed me with the symmetry of the pavements, the beauty of the city and just how wonderful and unique it was. We did not have a lot of time in the city however we tried to do as much as we could and one of the places we ended up seeing was Palácios Da Presidência.
We did not plan to go to this location but I am so glad we did, it was a wonderful garden, there was so much to see around the pond, the grass and in the centre of it all was this wonderful building, it was a sort of red colour, it was vibrant, it was bold and it was beautiful. The best thing about it was that it took an amazing photograph.
I never thought that I would be blown away by a building but this one was so striking, I took so many photographs of it as it was so beautiful in many different angles. I loved the colour and the contrast of the bold design next to palm trees made it wonderful.
I really like this photograph because I love the way that the trees sort of curve over the top of the building and I just really like the position of everything in this photograph. I will always look back at this photograph and think of happy times and the wonder of a new place.
