Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Total Recall

Tell us about:

Your latest single you have released:

Our latest single is Never Again. The 3rd one from our first album Always Together. Its an aggressive song with powerful lyrics and the director of the video made an awesome job in translating them into motion without a precise storyboard.

Your first single and how you felt when it was released:

Our first single was Knife Cut Brain and when we released it we were absolutely pumped up cause we were working on writing songs since more than 1 year. It felt great to see the outcome of all that dedication finally thrown in the world.

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

Probably Poison Flow we think is the song with the most different elements blended together. We choose this song as our first single when the full length was launched.

Your favourite song to play live:

This would be probably Seas of Illusion. Its pretty easy to perform and it has all the right elements for a Metallic Hardcore show. Lots of 2 step and breakdowns with some fast parts as well.

Your most emotional track:

For sure we would pick the album title track Always Together as it speaks about our missing brother Massy and about the feelings we all have about him not being with us physically but  always present spiritually. Playing this song live is sort of therapeutic.

The best lyric you have ever written:

We do not use music to express political or ideological messages, but we try to send a message of acceptance through our lyrics. It’s ok to be different (or considered different), but if you feel that you are entering a black hole seek for help, there is no shame in it. Accept yourself for what you are, there is no good or bad, it’s just you. It’s a painful process though, and if you read lyrics like Poison Flow or Emptiness/Disgrace you’ll know it.

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

Excitement, anticipation, a pure rush of adrenaline and we feel at peace with ourselves and with the world. We can say without a doubt that regardless the place you are going to perform if you don’t have that feeling, that adrenaline, that passion is not worth it for you to continue playing in a band.

The hardest track to play live:

That would be Knife Cut Brain. The hands must be warm to play it right. That’s why we left it for the end of the set.

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

Vitamins, Magnesium Tablets, Underwear

Describe your fans in three words:

We do not really want to use the term fans, but more people who like and support what we do. We think that regardless the level of notoriety you will reach with your band you always have to remember that you write music to have someone to be able to listen to it. When your form of art is appreciated and you receive support and feedback from complete strangers who were somehow touched by a song or a lyric you wrote it’s the biggest accomplishment that you can aspire to. Sometimes this is taken for granted…well….it should not. Ever.

Passionate – Determined – Open Minded

A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:

Boys from Sabrina Salerno. It will remain vivid in the memory of many generations to come. The opening of the lyrics will remain an absolute milestone

Boys, boys, boys

Sunshines down

So come to town

Set your body free

Hold me tight

My love tonight

Tell me you believe

What we can look forward to from your band this year:

We are completing the live effort to support the release of our first Full Length Always Together out pretty much everywhere via the Australian 1054 Records. After a series of club shows in Italy and a package Tour in France we will do a short tour in UK this early November with No Second Chance and we will embark in small European Run in Italy,Switzerland, Germany, Holland and Belgium in early December (3-7-8-9-10).

In the meanwhile since a couple of months we are recording some pre-productions. The new songs are surely more dark and heavy than the previous ones but at the same time they keep the same attitude. It’s a natural evolution of the 5 of us now working together since 3 years.

This new songs are reflecting our common influences in a more natural way. According to what our feelings will be about the pre prods we will decide if we will hit the studio for a Full Length or for an EP, but for sure in early 2023 we will release new music.
